Damn remember when Teairra Mari was the princess of The ROC? Then Jay saw them album sales, made a switch, and then Rihanna became the new princess.  That didn’t stop Teairra though she’s back after a couple years and a couple of album contracts she might finally be on the right path to success and she’s joining up with her former label mate Kanye West for a ROC reunion! You know you feel them late 90’s and them early ’00’s!

T.I. is covering the newest issue of Giant magazine. On another T.I. note, according to Billboard.com, his album Paper Trail has already sold 357,000 albums in the first three days of it’s release, and is expected to to top the billboard charts next week….READ MORE HERE. Paper Trail is definitely my favorite album…period, and I’m sure it will be a contender for Rap Album of the Year at the Grammy’s.

Common is on the newest issue of 944 magazine. In it common discusses why he is voting for Obama, and how important this election is.

PLEASE DON’T VOTE!

This was utterly HILARIOUS to me, I was dead with laughter. Sarah Silverman is the funniest chick out there right now. Peep spots from Jaime Foxx, Halle Berry, Usher, Forest Whitaker, and many other celebrities pleading for you not to vote.

Speaking of voting, Obama is covering the November cover of Vibe, yet he is pleading with Americans to vote:

Barack Obama personally wrote a letter to Vibe urging their readers to register to vote:

“We are at a defining moment in our history. I am running for president to take this country in a new direction. But I can’t do it alone. I need you,” the letter reads. “Whether it’s the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4.”

The choice is yours, and if you haven’t done so already

Recently Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Kanye (all known by first names) announced their upcoming albums. Beyonce announced that her 3rd solo album will be released on November 17th. Two singles are already ready to impact radio on October 7th. One entitled Single Ladies and the other “If I Were A Boy” which a video is being shot for in New York.  After Beyonce has all her shine next in line is Kanye who will be releasing his album a MONTH later, December 16th to be exact. His 4th solo album will be 808’s and Heartbreak and here is the cover art for the first single:

“Love Lockdown” was premiered at the 2008 VMA’s and should be available on iTunes this week. But wait the trilogy would not be complete without Jay-Z.  Jay is completing a trilogy of his own with his next album The Blueprint 3. Of course the first single was produced by Kanye and “Jockin Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh)” was premiered on Kanye’s New York stop of the Glow In The Dark Tour.

The hit single “Swagga Like Us” which features and is produced by Kanye West, will be on both T.I.’s Paper Trail and Jay’s The Blueprint 3. Sources say that Jay-Z will be releasing his album in December or January right after Kanye’s.

THIS IS A DAMN TAKEOVER!

THIS IS A POLITE WARNING:

GET WITH IT OR GET LOST!

Kanye West, Oprah, Mary J. Blige, And Forest Whitaker Speak About Barack Obama’s DNC Convention Speech

I now see how Barack Obama is taking over the nation. After sitting out in the hot sun at a football stadium at Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio waiting to hear Obama speak, I now see why he is going to be the next president, he is truly inspirational. Oprah, Kanye, MJB, and Forest Whitaker were also inspired by Barack Obama:

And who said Oprah didn’t like rappers? Her and Kanye seem pretty close with one another.

Dope! News: Kirk Franklin At Odds With T-Pain Over ‘Silver & Gold’

Posted in Dope! News with tags , on August 29, 2008 by simplydope

It looks like Kirk Franklin had to sit down and have a talk with T-Pain about his song that leaked on the internet ‘Silver & Gold’. Kirk who originally released the song ‘Silver & Gold’ in 1993 on the album Kirk Franklin and the Family, had lyrics that spoke about God:

Silver and gold/ Silver and gold/ I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold/ No fame or fortune/ Nor riches untold/ I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold.

While T-Pain’s version focuses more on alcohol:

“You’ll be hanging, swanging, drinking two types of Patrón,” he sings. “I done mixed up silver and gold/ I done mixed up silver and gold/ I’mma tryin’ to get drunk before this party/ Somebody’s gonna have to carry me home/ I done drank the silver and gold.”

T-Pain’s version doesn’t sample the original Kirk Franklin hit, but the melody is the same which caused people to believe that he was desecrating a gospel song buy talking about alcohol instead. T-Pain talked to MTV News about how the song was just done out of “boredom” and it wasn’t considered to be on the album and how Kirk told him to change the melody:

“It was never supposed to be on my album, the record, it got leaked, then me and Kirk Franklin had to talk. He was doing most of the talking. He was saying it wasn’t no disrespect. He was saying he knows how songs get leaked. He had it happen to him before. He said he wasn’t a saint, and it wasn’t like he never did nothing wrong. It’s not like [Kirk] said I did something wrong. He said if I was gonna go with it, just change the melody. ‘You can still say silver and gold.’ He’s got a lot of people saying stuff to him: ‘How could you let T-Pain destroy a gospel song like that? How could let him talk about alcohol?’ I wasn’t even doing it for a mixtape or nothing. I was literally drinking and made a song. I was bored in the studio. There was nothing else to do. I made it into an alcoholic anthem, which wasn’t good. It spread so fast, everybody thought it was the first single. Somebody was putting it out as ‘the first single off of T-Pain’s new album Pain or Pleasure.‘ Somebody was just making up an album name just so they can put it out. That’s why my album isn’t coming out on [my] birthday no more, because I had to push it back. We had to stop that song.”
